How We Got Started
In 1903, a small group of yacht club commodores came together to form an organization dedicated to the recently created sport of powerboat racing. The group called themselves the American Power Boat Association.
More than 110 years later, the organization has adapted and modernized, however it’s values and principles remain the same. Devoted to sportsmanship, competition and safety; the APBA is recognized internationally as the only authorized governing body for powerboat racing in the United States.
